Dr Jeannie Devereaux Explains The Power of Regenerative Medicine

Nadine Dilong sat down with Dr Jeannie Devereaux to discuss the true power of PRP.

Regenerative treatments are paving the way for a new standard of care. I had the privilege to sit down with PRP expert Dr Jeannie Devereaux, a pioneering figure deeply entrenched in the development and application of regenerative aesthetic treatments. With a fervour for enhancing skin health through advanced techniques, Dr Devereaux’s insights shed light on the transformative potential of these therapies.

A Paradigm Shift to Regenerative Medicine

Dr Devereaux’s journey is one rooted in the belief that true beauty emerges from within—literally. Specialising in regenerative medicine, her approach diverges from traditional cosmetic fixes like injectables. Instead, the focus is on harnessing the body’s natural healing mechanisms to rejuvenate and restore.

“At our clinics, we use a sophisticated system to deliver 10 billion platelets, billions of mononuclear cells, and about 100 billion exosomes directly into the skin,” Dr Devereaux explains. “This isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about optimising skin health over time.”

The Science Behind High-Dose PRP

Dr Devereaux emphasises that not all Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments are created equal. “We’ve seen a lot of misconceptions about PRP in the market. Many products lack the concentration needed to stimulate stem cells effectively. PRP got a bit of a bad rap for a while, because what’s mostly used out there is cheap tubes, and they don’t have the concentration level for the dose levels to actually regenerate.”

Dr Devereaux: “There’s a certain dose that you must use for the stem cells to be stimulated. So that’s why we use the 10 billion dose, where the generic market out there is really under a billion, if they’re lucky,” she notes. Their proprietary EmCyte PurePRP, used exclusively in select clinics, ensures a high concentration of bioactive components crucial for skin regeneration.

The treatment works by drawing 55ml of blood.  “It takes about a minute and a half for us to do that,” she explains,“That’s in an anticoagulant, and we have this special clinical disc within our kit, and that captures the high dose of the platelets, but more importantly, it also captures the high dose of the mononuclear cells, because they’re equally as regenerative. And then the platelets have platelet derived exosomes, and the monocytes and the lymphocytes have exosomes as well.”

The ‘liquid gold’ of platelets, mononuclear cells, and exosomes then gets injected into the area of the body that you want to treat and helps the skin regenerate itself.

While PRP is renowned for its efficacy in facial rejuvenation, Dr Devereaux highlights its versatility. “We treat everything from thinning hair to severe alopecia,” she states. “Our approach isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about restoring scalp health, stimulating hair follicles, and achieving natural-looking results.”

In an industry often driven by quick fixes, Dr Devereaux advocates for informed consumerism. “Patients need to ask about the dose of platelets used in their PRP treatments,” she advises. “It’s about ensuring they receive the optimal benefits from the procedure.”

PRP isn’t limited to anti-ageing treatments alone. Dr Devereaux explains its effectiveness in treating conditions like rosacea and acne. “We’ve seen remarkable results in clearing up these skin conditions. PRP’s ability to promote healing and reduce inflammation makes it a game-changer.”

The Future of Aesthetic Medicine

As our conversation draws to a close, Dr Devereaux reflects on the future of regenerative aesthetics. “It’s about integrating evidence-based practices into every treatment,” she asserts. “From musculoskeletal health to dermatological conditions, the potential for PRP and regenerative therapies is vast.”

Dr Devereaux’s passion for regenerative medicine underscores a significant shift in aesthetic practices—a movement towards treatments that prioritise long-term skin health and natural beauty. As practitioners and consumers alike become more informed, the demand for high-quality, evidence-based treatments like EmCyte PurePRP continues to grow.

In a field where innovation meets artistry, Dr Devereaux and clinics like hers are leading the charge towards a future where aesthetic treatments not only enhance but also heal.
