Beyond the Before & After aims to showcase the life-changing effects of plastic surgery beyond the physical.
The Aesthetic Society has recently released a new docuseries in partnership with Allergan Aesthetics called Beyond the Before & After, depicting the transformative journey and life after plastic surgery. The four-part docuseries tells unique patient stories from real people across America who have undergone aesthetic plastic surgery.
The virtual series seeks to provide a new understanding of how aesthetic surgery can positively impact people’s lives beyond the superficial, no matter whether it’s a weight-loss surgery or total transformation. Beyond the Before & After offers a platform to showcase untold patient stories of how plastic surgery helped transform every aspect of their lives.
“This film series goes beyond the surface to shine a light on the less told emotional journeys our patients go through before, during, and after plastic surgery,” says Melinda Haws, MD, Communications Commissioner of The Aesthetic Society. “This is our opportunity to change the conversation around aesthetic plastic surgery and demonstrate that our goal is more than physical changes, it’s to change lives.”
The docuseries features four remarkable stories: a single mom’s journey with weight loss and self-love, a trans non-binary person’s story of self-discovery and acceptance, a breast cancer survivor’s reconstruction journey and a father’s pursuit of a healthier and happier lifestyle. Each episode documents each patient’s transformation from initial consultation through to surgery, and the discovery of self-acceptance afterwards.
“This new chest gives me courage,” says Eva, a breast cancer survivor whose reconstruction journey is featured in the series. “I feel different and I feel like I’m more conscious about taking care of yourself. I’m learning to love myself again.”
The full docuseries is available to view online at The Aesthetic Society, offering a great resource for patients around the world who are considering plastic surgery.
