Why Microcurrent Treatments Are Having A Resurgence

What goes around, comes back around!

One modality that is currently experiencing a resurgence in the skincare world is micro-current therapy. Where trends come and go with the seasons, it’s not uncommon for certain treatments to fade into obscurity, only to resurface with newfound fervor.

This non-invasive procedure is gaining traction once again, with clinics like Skin Collective spearheading the movement towards healthier, more vibrant skin.

We sat down with Sara Lavis, the owner and founder of Skin Collective and WA trainer for Rejuran, who shared insights into why microcurrent treatments have become a focal point of their clinic’s offerings as they have just introduced their latest treatment, The Signature Microcurrent Facial.

What made you decide to implement microcurrent into the clinic?

At Skin Collective our focus is health and wellness from the inside out. The MyoLift MD device has unique waveforms that are controlled by our practitioners (can be switched on and off, up, or down, for bespoke treatments) to stimulate lymphatic circulation, lymphatic drainage, reprogram muscles to lengthen, firm loose tissue, assist in reducing the appearance of deep dermal wrinkles, refine texture and allow ionised substances of collagen and elastin to pass into the epidermis. This means we can tailor all treatments to the individual’s needs to achieve healthy and vibrant skin.

I’m a big believer in celebrating individuals’ natural beauty and individuality in general, and therefore as an Aesthetic Nurse my role is to create facial harmony using a less is more approach. This device re-educates facial muscles, which translates into achieving the results desired using less injectable products.

What’s not to love?

What effects do you find the device has on product penetration?

The Myolift MD includes an Iontophoresis Waveform Pattern that is unique to the device, which allows ionised substances of collagen and elastin to pass into the epidermis.

Also known as the penetration of acidic water-soluble solutions into the skin such as serums, boosters and concentrates. Electric-based delivery treatments that allow for deeper penetration into the skin layers of ingredients, such as vitamins, antioxidants and peptides, provide more effective and faster results.

With hand-picked ingredients, accurate pH and concentration, Iontophoresis can minimise wrinkles, eliminate pigment blemishes, soften scars and improve overall skin condition.

How do you combine the MyoLift MD in with other treatments?

We love to combine treatments to ensure the client is getting the most out of every visit. All of our treatments and plans are bespoke, as no two individuals are the same and we are driven by the science of skin.

The MyoLift MD can be a stand alone treatment or combined with other modalities, such as Neolifting techniques, Dermaplaning, HydraGlow, Ultrasound, Radio Frequency, Microneedling, LED and/or Clinical Peels. In circumstances where the Myolift MD affects product penetration, such as a clinical peel, a microcurrent is completed before, however LED can be used before or after.

The Myolift MD is designed to work alongside other modalities so it’s no surprise that it’s also used by celebrity aesthetician, Joanna Vargas and Dr Barbara Sturm, for red carpet event-ready skin, as well as to promote long-term skin health.
