Mala McAlpin Run annually since 1911, International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the globe, and marks a call to action for accelerating gender equality. It’s a wonderful opportunity to recognise female leaders, success stories in your community, and inspire further motivation for the future.
If you’d like to celebrate the day in your business and amongst your team, there are plenty of ways in which you can do so. No rules apply – it’s simply a day to commemorate and inspire, so feel free to get creative. Here are some ideas that will make you, your female team members and clients, feel like you can achieve anything!
Goals AND Achievements
Write down your goals for the future. Where do you see yourself in a year, or 5 years? Do you have a specific number you’d like to reach in terms of revenue, team size, number of salons, etc? Jot them down – it’s always much easier to envision and generate motivation for yourself and your team if you have visible, tangible goals you can see in front of you. Once you’ve recorded your goals, take a moment to reflect on your successes, and write them down as well. This day is an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful things you have already achieved, so don’t forget to commend yourself on those too!
Publish Your Team’s Bios
Got some female kickass team members you want to share with the world? In honour of IWD, why not publish their bios? Grab a headshot and post them on your website and social media on the day with a bit about each one, their experience and their greatest career highlights so far. There may be some shyness and embarrassment involved, but there’s no doubt your staff will love you for recognising their hard work.
Client Messages
Send a blast email or text message to all of your female clients commemorating the day. The theme is completely up to you, from sincere thank yous to fun memes. Whatever you choose to go with, we guarantee it will be received warmly by most.
Affirmations
Pop some inviting signage on your counter or coffee table, grab a fish bowl and fill it with affirmations or inspirational quotes (from powerful women) for your female clients. Encourage them to take one after their treatment, so they can leave with their head held high and a little boost of confidence. Here are a few to get you started:
