Take A Look Inside Perth’s ‘Most Instagrammable’ Clinic

We spoke to Director of Olive & July Chloe Sherrell on her oh-so-chic Perth clinic.

Particularly in the beauty and aesthetics industry, first impressions matter, which is why creating the perfect aesthetic for your spa or clinic can play such a large role in your business’ overall success. This is especially important for today’s consumer, who is seeking that immersive, sensorial, Instagram-worthy experience when they walk through the doors.

For this reason, we regularly chat to business owners whose clinics have that wow-factor the moment you walk through the doors, delving into their inspirations and visions for their spa or clinic’s original look and vibe.

For this instalment, we chat to Chloe Sherrell, Director at Olive & July – a beauty salon that has been dubbed as Perth’s most instagrammable.

Director of Olive & July Chloe Sherrell

How did you come up with your salon’s aesthetic, branding, colour scheme etc?
Coming up with the salon’s aesthetic, branding and colour scheme just came naturally to me, I chose colours that I was drawn to and that I thought were aesthetically pleasing, relaxing and inviting. I went with what I would enjoy as a client and what I felt was a beautiful space to work in everyday. It was very enjoyable finally being able to bring my own visions of how a salon should look and feel to life! I didn’t have a lot of free time in between running my business and seeing clients full time to source some of the gorgeous pieces within the clinic, so a friend of mine, Tarli, Interior Designer and owner of Sabi Interiors helped me bring this beautiful space to life!

What did you want the style to say about you?
I wanted my clinic’s style to reflect the way I like to work and I guess my personality too! I need a clean and minimal space to work in, however I also need a space that is beautiful to look at and super stylish that also feels calming, relaxing and inviting. I believe those things are all very important within the beauty industry. I wanted my salon to say “come in and relax, feel at home, slip off your shoes or if you prefer, waltz in in high heels.” I wanted it to be luxurious, yet relaxed because that’s totally me.

What do you want clients to feel upon entering the space?
I would love my clients to get that ‘ahhhhh’ feeling, a sigh of relief like a weight lifted off their shoulders and the stresses of everyday life left behind at the front door. I also want them to feel like ‘wow’ this place is stunning, which we hear daily and that makes my heart sing!

How large a role do your stocked brands’ aesthetics play within your clinic?
Well my own range Olive & July Skin is matched perfectly to our aesthetics and clients love it! Our bottles are white with pink minimal writing on the packaging and that has been a hit since launching in December last year. I believe stocked brands play a big role in how the overall clinic’s aesthetic looks. We also stock Dr. Spiller, Aevitas Actives, Eyenvy, Medik8 and Mesoestetics, and although not all are matching to our colour scheme, I organise the products on our shelves to maintain a minimalist feel.

What kind of feedback do you receive from clients?
We receive amazing feedback from our clients on social media loving our space aesthetics and attention to detail! We have been dubbed ‘the most Instagrammable salon in Perth’ which is pretty cool!

Any favourite decor and/or furniture items?
I have so many! Our pink basins in each room are from the epic guys at Nood Co. The basket pendant lights hanging above our reception desk are a favourite, they are from Empire homewares. The pink chair and pink couch are both from danish design brand WON design and of course our famous pink swing! That is a collaboration by Australian interior designer Mon Palmer and furniture design company Barnaby Lane. Our pink limewash paint feature wall is also a big favourite, that is from Australian paint company Bauwerk. Ohhh and I cannot forget our front desk which is venetian plaster done by Exclusive Finishes WA.
