Wellbeing Centres Are On The Rise – Here’s Why This Founder Launched Her Own

Adelaide’s latest destination for holistic wellness, Studio Exhale, opens its doors. We speak to founder Chloe Robinson about her personal journey which led to the studio’s birth.

Studio Exhale is set to redefine holistic wellness in Adelaide with the opening of their first studio in Thebarton. Envisioned by founder Chloe Robinson, who has turned her personal journey into a public sanctuary, Studio Exhale aims to become the city’s premier wellness destination, offering a blend of ancient practices and modern luxury.

Located on George Street, the stunning space is designed by Crystal Bailey, renowned Interior Designer to Australia’s A-listers, with its modern contemporary aesthetic and thoughtful design setting it apart from others.

The studio offers a range of holistic services including reformer Pilates, guided by intuitive instructors, along with transformative breathwork sessions, healing massages, reiki alignment, thanks to their partnership with Chloe Selin of Flourish & Flo. Guests can also indulge in the therapeutic benefits of the clinic’s state-of-the-art Infra-Red Sauna and Cold Plunge, elevating the wellness experience to unprecedented levels of luxury and personalisation.

“Studio Exhale was born from a deeply personal need to prioritise self-care and wellness.”

Studio Exhale Founder, Chloe Robinson.

When Chloe came back home to Adelaide, she began looking for a place that could offer the same sanctuary—a destination for total wellbeing. When she couldn’t find it, she felt called to create it herself, and the concept of Studio Exhale was born.

“My vision of Studio Exhale was to position it as an attainable retreat for anyone seeking to escape life’s chaos and focus on their personal health journey, just like I did,” says Chloe.

Why is regulating the nervous system so beneficial for one’s wellbeing?

Like many, I’ve faced my own battles with mental health from a young age, navigating the challenges of life while juggling the demands of being a mum and a business owner.

I’ve seen psychologists and psychiatrists, doctors and other health practitioners, but it was during a particularly challenging period—marked by the loss of my grandfather and feeling the loss of my own identity within my marriage—that I had a profound realisation… Part of the reason I was struggling was because I had always placed myself last.

But among the chaos, this gave me the gift of time to reflect. It was an opportunity to prioritise self-care, and bring awareness to what needed healing. I booked into a retreat, and spent 3 weeks immersing myself in Pilates, ice baths, sauna sessions, massages, breathwork and meditations. It was a pivotal time in my life—a step towards reclaiming my well-being and rediscovering balance and trust within myself.

Studio Exhale has been designed to be a sanctuary, a safe space, a place where people feel welcomed. A place where people can take time for themselves, to begin their journey of self love, and self healing. I wanted to capture the essence of a retreat but make it accessible to all when it best suits them. We want people to be able to put themselves first at Studio Exhale, and to take the time to just simply be.

If we learn to put ourselves first, and make mental health and regulating our nervous system a priority, it leads to us being a happier partner, parent and obviously individual.

How do you typically operate with your clients? Are there consultations offered or is it more of a “menu” style of service?

We encourage our clients to do as much, or as little as they please – we understand the huge juggle that so many people (especially women!) feel, and time is not always on our side. If you can dedicate 55 minutes, then we suggest a Reformer Pilates Class.

If you can dedicate a little more time, hop in the sauna afterwards. If you have the whole morning, then do a Slow Flow, followed by a meditation with our partner Flourish & Flo, followed by a sauna/cold plunge.

Our packages are designed to suit people from all walks of life – from those who want to casually drop by when it suits them, to those who can dedicate multiple sessions in a week for Reformer + Sauna/Cold Plunge – and everyone in between.

Any plans to add more services? Can you cheekily share which you would be interested in?

We are always looking to expand and explore new services, but we are very excited to introduce a schedule of events to the studio designed to further facilitate grounding, connection and expand our wellbeing.

Upcoming events include Full Moon and Sound Healing Bath events by Flourish & Flo, Mums & Bubs events, and excitingly, a Women in Business event featuring some inspirational and purpose-led businesswomen.
