Genetics, lifestyle, and disease processes affect the rate of ageing between and within all individuals.
As we pinpoint the influences on how we age, we can think about new and more effective interventions that may prevent disease and promote healthy ageing.
Integrative, preventative and anti-ageing medicine is based on a preventative approach to patient care – the early detection, prevention and treatment of age-related disease.
It is when we understand the connections between the pillars of ageing that we can counteract age-related decline, prevent and manage chronic disease and disorders and promote healthy ageing.
The two-day Metabolic Disorders and the Ageing Process workshop hosted by The AustralAsian Academy of Anti-Ageing Medicine (A5M) will examine the four major metabolic disorders contributing to the acceleration of the ageing process, discuss the processes of insulin resistance and define specific treatment and management protocols.
You will review the pathways leading to obesity and discuss the latest weight loss treatment protocols; risk factors for heart disease, and how common cardiovascular disorders accelerate the ageing process.
Interactive sessions will include case studies to review laboratory tests to evaluate insulin resistance, diabetes, and risk factors for heart disease.
The workshop is designed for pharmacists, medical practitioners new to the area of integrative and preventative medicine, naturopaths, nutritionists and dietitian, osteopaths and chiropractors, dentists, and other allied health practitioners.
This workshop is a component of the Australasian Certification in AntiAgeing Medicine (ACAAM) and taken as standalone modules or part of the complete program.
