Jessica Frost Aussie brand, Kenzina, is championing eco-conscious practices while dialling up the fun in its branding.
When you think of eco-friendly beauty, you’d be forgiven for picturing the earthy tones and lacklustre branding of the products hidden down the aisles of your local health food store.
But Perth-based Beauty brand, Kenzina, is delivering sustainability without skimping on modern, young and fun touches of luxury. The millennial pink branding calls for its own Insta moment. But far more than the colour was considered when creating these products.
Kenzina founder, Zarina Weston, is passionate about sustainability and was fed up with the state of the industry.
“The beauty industry has a long history of being wasteful,” says Zarina.
“Take eye masks for example, the waste generated is unbelievable. Eye masks have only been offered in disposable packs of 2, 5 or sometimes 10 pairs. The eye masks themselves are not biodegradable, the packaging is not biodegradable and the amount of packaging per pair is excessive.”
All of Kenzina’s lip and eye mask containers are made from recyclable materials. The larger size, holding 24 to 30 treatments per container, is doing away with single-use packets that were once the norm. And what’s inside is just as impactful as the Rejuvenating Eye Masks dissolve completely in water.
Skin and beauty therapists can add the masks onto their treatments knowing less packaging is heading to landfill.
Kenzina also consider what’s inside its packaging, and what’s left out of its products
“Creating plant-based ingredients is a no brainer,” says Zarina. “Why would we want to put chemicals on our skin?
“I worked with a South Korean beauty lab over a 6-month period developing my first product. I tested each sample personally. It had to be safe, naturally based and ethical.
“I tried a number of ingredient combinations, but I knew ingredients like coconut and peppermint were essentials for me, the base from which to start due to their soothing and hydrating properties.
Both the Rejuvenating Under-eye Masks and the Plumping Lip Masks feature natural ingredients and are free from alcohol, sulphate and parabens. Plus, the brand is 100% cruelty free.
The Kenzina Rejuvenating Eye Masks are infused with Hyaluronic Acid, Antioxidants, Niacinamide (vitamin B3), Vitamin E, VolufilineTM and other active ingredients that work in synergy to repair skin, reduce wrinkles and fine lines and plump up the skin around the eyes.
Equally as nourishing, the Plumping Lip Masks are enriched with coconut, avocado, watermelon extracts hyaluronic acid and Vitamin E to deliver a burst of hydration and smooth texture to the lips.
