Here’s Why These Two Leading Aesthetic Clinics Introduced Clinical Imaging Technology Into Their Business

Furthering your clinic’s scope of patient care with the latest clinical imaging technology.

In an increasingly competitive and rapidly evolving industry, two leading skin clinics—Aesthete Sunshine Coast and Glasgow Skin Clinic—have invested in state-of-the-art technology from Clinical Imaging Australia to elevate patient care and streamline their diagnostic processes. By adopting this imaging system, both clinics have positioned themselves strongly within medical aesthetics, enhancing their ability to provide precise, detailed, and informed consultations and treatment plans.

Aesthete Sunshine Coast: Setting New Standards in Patient Care and Enhancing Skin Cancer Screening

Aesthete Sunshine Coast has always aimed to offer the highest quality of care, but they recently took it to a new level with the introduction of a superior clinical imaging system. The decision to adopt the technology was driven by strong recommendations from colleagues and inspired by insights from a recent SPA+CLINIC publication.

“The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and now that we’ve seen the benefits firsthand, we understand exactly why,” shares Janette Irwin, RN and Director of Aesthete Sunshine Coast.

The advanced imaging system has since revolutionised the clinic’s assessment capabilities. Using high-resolution photography and deeper skin analysis, Aesthete’s clinicians are now able to identify underlying skin concerns with unmatched precision. This deeper understanding not only informs more accurate treatment plans but has also led to a significant increase in treatment uptake as clients become more educated and confident in the proposed solutions.

“The system bridges the gap between cosmetic medicine and skin treatments, providing a more integrated experience for our patients,” says Janette.

Integrating Technology Seamlessly

The transition to the new technology was smooth, thanks to the support from Clinical Imaging Australia. Woodrow (Director) and Colleen (National Sales Manager) provided hands-on assistance throughout the installation process, enabling Aesthete to transform a previously underutilised medical storage room into a vital consultation space.

“The timing couldn’t have been better,” Janette adds. “It aligned perfectly with the launch of our rebranded website and focus on elevating our clinic’s image.”

In one of the initial tests, the imaging system revealed previously unnoticed vascular and melanin variations on the otherwise flawless skin of Aesthete’s founder, Janette. These findings highlighted the system’s ability to uncover subtle skin concerns, allowing for more targeted treatment approaches and better long-term results.

“The system has been an absolute game changer for our business. It allows us to provide the level of care previously reserved for dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and cosmetic doctors,” Janette shares. “It’s something we now regret not doing sooner.”

Glasgow Skin Clinic: Improving Assessment of Estrogen Deficient Skin and Overall Patient Care

Founded in 2015 by Endorsed Nurse Practitioner Kelly McChord, the Glasgow Skin Clinic initially focused on cosmetic and dermal therapies. However, with an increasing number of patients presenting suspicious lesions, the need for a comprehensive skin cancer screening service became evident.

To address this need and ensure continuity of care, Kelly pursued her Professional Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine (RACGP) in 2023. The clinic’s new focus was further strengthened when her husband, Stephen, an experienced GP specialising in skin cancer screening and excisions, joined the team.

“We realised that many patients who were referred to external providers for skin cancer screenings and treatments didn’t follow through, potentially risking their health,” Kelly explains. “By offering this service in-house, we can ensure our patients receive the care they need without unnecessary delays.”

Leveraging Clinical Imaging for Better Outcomes

Kelly was first introduced to the Clinical Imaging system at a Merz Aesthetics event in 2022, where she was captivated by the technology’s capabilities. The system’s ability to provide calibrated images with melanin and vascular filters offers a comprehensive view of the skin, aiding in the identification of pigmentation issues, photo damage, and even areas that are likely to develop actinic keratosis or skin cancers.

“Adding the Clinical Imaging system to our dermatoscopy camera has given us a versatile setup that caters to all our patients’ needs,” Kelly says. “It allows us to provide more thorough assessments and make informed recommendations.”

Kelly’s passion for treating oestrogen-deficient and menopausal skin changes has further driven her interest in the system. Currently studying for her Postgraduate Diploma in Menopause Medicine, she uses the imaging technology to compare and contrast skin changes in women of this demographic, providing a unique and specialised service that sets the clinic apart.

Why Clinical Imaging Technology Matters

Both Aesthete Sunshine Coast and Glasgow Skin Clinic have demonstrated how clinical imaging technology can be a transformative tool, not just for patient care but for overall business growth. With the ability to visualise skin concerns in detail and offer more personalised treatment plans, these clinics have set new benchmarks for the industry.

For other clinics considering such an investment, Aesthete’s founder has some words of encouragement: “The benefits are immediate and impactful. It’s a tool that empowers both practitioners and patients, leading to better outcomes and more satisfied clients. This is not just an upgrade; it’s an evolution.”
