A tranquil retreat for wellness in the heart of the busy Sydney CBD.
Soak Bathhouse, the modern Australian bathhouse brand, has announced plans to open its fourth location in Bondi Junction later this year, and its fifth location in Alexandria, Sydney, set for April 2025. Known for making wellness accessible and affordable, Soak aims to provide Sydneysiders with a tranquil escape within the vibrant cityscape.
Co-founded in 2020 by Alexis and Niki Dean, Soak Bathhouse started as a family-owned business on Queensland’s Gold Coast, where they launched their flagship location. The brand has since expanded with a rooftop day spa in Brisbane’s West End and is in the process of opening new sites in South Yarra, Melbourne, and Bondi Junction, Sydney, both slated for late 2024.
The Alexandria experience
The Alexandria location will span a generous 700 square meters, nestled within the new Bourke & Bowden development, a $230 million project led by architect John Wardle, just 4 km from Sydney’s CBD. This expansive wellness destination will feature magnesium-infused mineral bathing pools, cold plunges, steam rooms, outdoor showers, a spa garden, cedarwood sauna, relaxation areas, and dedicated changing rooms.
Reflecting on the Alexandria project, Alexis Dean expressed excitement: “In today’s fast-paced world when more Australians are experiencing stress and burnout, we need wellness more than ever. We’re thrilled to bring Soak to Alexandria, offering Sydneysiders the chance to escape, unwind and recharge in one of the most vibrant locations in the city.”
The Concept Behind Soak Bathhouse
Every Soak facility is designed to blend communal bathing with a nature-inspired ambiance that promotes relaxation and connection. Each location incorporates natural elements, from the color schemes to materials, to create a sense of grounding and tranquility.
Visitors can enjoy a wide array of private wellness treatments, including full-body massages, infrared sauna journeys, meditation sessions, and LED red light facials. Soak also offers unique events, such as Soak and Sound sessions, where guests can unwind in hydrotherapy pools while listening to live music from local artists. The brand’s holistic approach extends to co-working spaces and corporate wellness packages available in select locations.
Accessible wellness packages
With a focus on routine wellness, Soak Bathhouse offers a variety of bathing packages to cater to different schedules and needs. A classic 90-minute session costs $49 on weekdays and $59 on weekends, providing guests with access to all wet and thermal facilities, along with complimentary robe hire and refreshments.
“Soak is a place you can come every day, every week or every month and start to build wellness routines into your life,” says Alexis. “That’s how you create meaningful change.”
As the momentum around communal bathing and social wellness grows, Soak Bathhouse’s expansion into Alexandria stands as a testament to the increasing demand for accessible, urban wellness experiences across Australia.
