Australia isn’t exactly a competitor on the global stage when it comes to snow holidays, but we’re lucky enough to have some pretty stunning ski fields of our own. None of those who have experienced a hard session out on the slopes can deny the bliss that is jumping into the spa at the end of the day, so it makes sense that some of our best ski resorts would also play host to some of the country’s most impressive day spas too. What could be a more perfect venue for treating sore, aching muscles and nourishing dry, dehydrated and windburned skin? Here are some of our favourite ski resort destinations complete with luxury spas and wellness retreats:
Breathtaker On High – Mount Buller
Mount Buller’s award-winning luxury spa, Breathtaker, has created an indulgent escape, with a unique water experience area and a wide range of spa rituals for men and women including massages, facials, hands & feet, body exfoliations, mud wraps and well-being treatments. The spa range, Breathe, is created from the flora of the Australian mountains, desert and rainforest, and the spa itself aims to embody the four elements: fire, water, earth and air, and create a real sensory experience using as many ties to native Australia as possible. Packages include entry to the water area (can include lunch or dinner for when you’ve worked up a sufficient appetite) sports massage and therapeutic treatment, and couples packages. Waxing, brows, lash tints and tanning are also on the menu.
spaQ – Falls Creek
Located at QT Falls Creek, spaQ has a strong focus on relaxing muscles, replenishing dry skin and putting guests in a state of true bliss after a full snow day, with several choices of facial, massage and body treatment. Body brushing and scrubs are available, along with relax, remedial, hot stone or pregnancy massage, plus bespoke facials using the Uspa range.
Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa – Snowy Mountains
Although the Snowy Mountains is a stunning holiday destination in both summer and winter, Lake Crackenback is an incredibly popular ski resort & spa close to both Thredbo and Perisher. Their custom built Spa & Wellness Centre has 5 treatment rooms with stunning mountain views, and their deluxe treatment room contains a luxurious infinity edge bath. The menu includes a range of massage, aromatherapy, cupping, Thalgo facials, hands & feet, detoxifying body treatments and waxing.
Snowfall Shower – Spa Vision
If, like the majority of our readers, you’re unlucky enough to be based away from these glittering ski fields, it is possible to create your very own winter wonderland at your own spa. Operating like a conventional shower, the Spa Vision Snowfall Shower releases real snowflakes at the touch of a button, for an invigorating and refreshing addition to your spa journey.
