What sets the best in the world apart? We find out from the team at COMO Shambhala Urban Escape Perth.
The 2022 World Spa & Wellness Awards (WSWA) Finalists have been announced and two Australian spas were among the lucky shortlist of luxury spas around the world.
Perth-based spa COMO Shambhala at COMO The Treasury is a finalist in the Spa of the Year – Asia & Australasia, while the team at Crown Spa Melbourne is in the running for team of the year.
The WSWAs recognise excellence in spas in wellness provision, treatment delivery, customer care, business skill, leadership, and sustainability. In 2022, the awards are set to take place on April 3 aboard a luxury yacht in London.
We spoke to the team at COMO Shambhala Urban Escape Perth to find out more about what sets them apart from the crowd and their thoughts on becoming finalists in the World Spa & Wellness Awards 2022.

First off, congratulations on becoming a finalist! What does this achievement mean to your team?
It means a lot to the COMO Shambhala team, as it recognises our excellence in wellness provision, treatment delivery, customer care, business skill, leadership and sustainability. As we have an inspiring commitment to long-term wellness, we will continue to support individuals on their wellness journey while evolving our exclusive suite of wellness experiences.
What was your first thought when you found out the news?
Our team was incredibly honoured and delighted to hear we would be a finalist in the World Spa & Wellness Awards 2022 — especially amongst some of the best spas in the world!
What makes your spa stand out from the rest?
We are a tranquil urban escape situated in the heart of Perth and have a handpicked team of diverse wellness practitioners across various modalities. We specialise in hands-on healing and holistic treatments with carefully selected products and COMO’s own signature blends.
We pride ourselves on our intimate surroundings, intuitive service, and the nurturing touch of our therapists.
Do you have any tips for up-and-coming boutique spas looking to make an impact?
To create tailored and experiential wellness offerings to elevate and evolve the guest experience, form deep connections within the community, and proactively seek innovative ways to improve sustainability initiatives and demonstrate environmental sensitivity.
